Former email software developer (Da Vinci) before going to Microsoft for ~15 years where I worked as a Software Design Engineer in Test II (SDET II). I started in the Exchange Server team working on Schedule+ but quickly went to work on Outlook 98 and Outlook 2000. After that I worked on the Office Programmability team (no product shipped), Excel 2003, Access 2007 and finally, Access 2010 (I left in 2011 mid-cycle of Office 2013 to be the CIO of a high-end jewelry store).
I wrote an add-in for Excel 2003 (still works with current Excel) that allows you to create an XML mapping from an existing range in Excel (related to the Microsoft XML patents I am co-author on). You can find it here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa203739(v=office.11).aspx
I still write software, but higher level business tasks take precedence now, so I don't get to do it as much as I would like, so coming here and getting my hands dirty again is fun!
When I'm not doing the above, I find myself tweaking the 3D printer I built, working on the CNC router I'm nearly done with, designing random ad-hoc projects in CAD (for the aforementioned toys...er, tools), or reading up on the crazy proliferation of new languages (oh, and learning to speak Chinese).
