I am considering creating a simple piece of free software, but have no intention of releasing the source code. I am not using any open source components inside the application. Is there a common software license type that can be used? It looks like APL, GNU, MIT, etc. seem to only apply to open source code.

Forgive me, but are you sure you meant to post here? We're about free and open-source software within the FSF and OSI definitions of the terms. If I'm not mistaken, you're asking about zero-cost software, so it doesn't initially seem to me like we're going to be much help. – MadHatter Jun 10 at 6:19
  • Sorry, this is all new to me. Is there a better place to post this question on StackExchange? – Error 500 Jun 11 at 1:01
  • I’m voting to close this question because it's not about free/open-source software within the site's definition. And with respect, it's your job and not ours to find out where the question's appropriate. – MadHatter Jun 11 at 12:02
