when toggle format what by license comment
Jun 27, 2023 at 16:57 comment added Life5ign @Martin_in_AUT that's a good point. I've already selected the TAPR OHL and hoping for the best, and I'll be doing some defensive publishing as well; still determining where I need to publish that, and if including documentation in my git repo is sufficient. Thank you

Jun 27, 2023 at 14:46 comment added Martin_in_AUT From the 2 answers so far you have seen that copyright protection is limited for hardware. So propagation of copyleft requirements from the blueprint to the hardware is more difficult than in software from source to object code. My recommendation to you would be to select an open-source hardware license, and reduce some of your altruistic ambitions (altruism is good!) so that it does not start to become a roadblock for your project. You might also want to think about defensive publishing.

Jun 26, 2023 at 18:37 comment added Life5ign @Martin_in_AUT that's a very good point, and I had thought about that. I am also considering a Creative Commons license, but was discouraged by the fact that they don't provide indemnification. I'll read up on the hardware tagged posts, thanks

Jun 26, 2023 at 9:46 comment added Martin_in_AUT It seems that you try to apply a license made for software (GPL) to a very different area (hardware). I recommend you read some of the questions and answers here.
